Space is a Place to Belong
As Gilly’s adventure comes to a climax, he leverages his new connections in the Big Harbor City government and is selected for the space program. After failing to find a home at sea or alongside humanity, Gilly sets his sights on a home among the stars. Also among those selected are Bradley Bigshot, appointed as mayor of Big Harbor City’s first permanent extrasolar outpost, New Harbor City, and Janet Jeanshorts, roller derby queen and Gilly’s obligatory love interest (despite just one previous appearance).
“Space is a Place to Belong” serves as the background to a training montage, in the form of a series of minigames to be completed before Gilly enters the launchpad to fulfill his destiny of being the first fish in space (not served on a plate). The minigames would have tested players’ agility, problem solving, patience, and precision as Gilly moved through rooms filled with increasingly-difficult puzzles.
Gilly’s role in the space program was determined by the player’s performance in each mini-game. Perfect runs would see Gilly promoted to starfleet admiral, unlocking a mini-game where players arrange fleet models and test their readiness for interstellar travel. If players failed one or more tests, Gilly would be assigned a range of mundane roles in the space program. If players failed everything, Gilly would be relegated to janitor (also with corresponding mini-game).

There’s nothing less lucky than a fish coming ashore amidst the docks of a fishing port, and nothing luckier than losing your flanneled pursuers by joining the city’s Fish Day parade. But heroes are often sustained by the tides of luck and Gilly would be no exception.
